The Teaching Performance through Composition Rhythm and Pitch Packs provide scaffolding to your teaching. Students learn the rhythm first and then add pitch. Once your students have learned and experimented with their various musical bits and pieces (think of them as building blocks), you are then able to collectively compose with the musical elements of structure, timbre, texture and expression to create your very own, original performance worthy pieces of music. Every one a world premiere! See score sample for details. DISCLAIMER: These materials have been extracted from Books One and Two of the Teaching Music through Performance series to create a succinct teaching tool. This work was commissioned by the Minnesota Band Directors Association and the Minnesota Junior Winds.
