Belah Sun Woman is a set of pieces in 5 movements. Each movement becomes increasingly more challenging beginning at Grade Zero and ending at approx. Grade 2. The movements are tied together by an indigenous story that recounts the birth of the sun, as retold by Wiradjuri Elder Francis Firebrace. The final movement, ‘Light the Earth’ depicts the very first sunrise on Earth and can easily be programmed as a stand-alone work. Unfortunately, it is not currently available for individual sale. Belah Sun Woman was commissioned by a consortium led by the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association Qld.
